Statement from Warrington Foodbank

29th April 2020

All over the country, more and more people are experiencing hardship and food crisis during these difficult and challenging times.

As we all face these difficult times together, the generosity and kindness from people, has been overwhelming. As a result of this, we understand that there are a number of new community initiatives which have been set up to assist people with food, and who are using the name ‘foodbank’. Whilst we applaud the charitable nature of these new initiatives, we would like to be clear that they are in no way connected to Warrington Foodbank.

Here at Warrington Foodbank we provide 3 days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food, to those people who find themselves in food crisis situations. All of our donated food is non-perishable and is subject to a meticulous sorting process by an army of dedicated volunteers, ensuring that all items are in-date, consumable and prepared ready for collection only (we do not deliver).

We are also part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, fully supported by the Trussell Trust and registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales with full charitable status.

Therefore, you can be confident that all of your donations, be they food, toiletries or monetary gifts, are handled responsibly and within the Trussell Trust guidelines, in order to support local people in crisis within our area.

Thank you for your continued support & stay safe.
